In the presentation held Mr. Craig Turner President, World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara, Ms. Kim Grant – Vice President, Business Development, Invest Buffalo Niagara and Ken Scholtens- Manager, Business Development & Expedited Services, Niagara Economic Development provided a comprehensive description of promising sectors combined with doing business in Buffalo USA and Niagara, Canada.
According to Mr. Craig Turner, there is no better place to do trade than in this region because it is near the border crossing to Canada. There is 85 billion dollars of trade that crosses the border in Buffalo Niagara. The airports, roads, railroad stations and ports offer an efficient way to import and export.
In Buffalo Niagara the focus is on Advanced Business Services, Advanced Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Life Sciences and Logistics. Many Dutch people emigrated to Canada just after the Second World War, this is still reflected in the well-known industries such as Agriculture. The region is also very popular for students as there are 21 colleges and universities that offer a future for the Millennials.
For Dutch entrepreneurs it is not difficult to do business in the Horseshoe region, just like Toronto, Niagara is very diverse, the doors are open for anyone who wants to do business. Buffalo is called the city of good neighbors. During the pandemic a campaign has been set up to help the entrepreneurs but also the people who lost their job. The campaign ‘’Back to Busines’’ ensures that people can get back to work in the form of, for example a career switch.
